New venture fund for film and media to launch in Tashkent

New venture fund for film and media to launch in Tashkent
A new venture fund for film and media is planned in Tashkent, mirroring global models that treat content as an investment asset.

According to reports, the fund will invest in films, series, and entertainment projects. The model allows investors to earn from intellectual property (IP) and rights, not just box office revenue. Investors can choose to fund a specific film, a production company, a media startup, or technology for content creation and distribution.

Similar funds already operate internationally. European Investment Fund invested €25 million in IPR.VC Fund III, which focuses on European film and television production. AI filmmaking startup Flick raised $6 million in seed funding from True Ventures, GV, Lightspeed, and Y Combinator.

For Central Asia, this could turn local stories and culture into globally marketable content. Tashkent is emerging as a regional hub for creative industries.
