
AFM AI Hackathon
AFM AI Hackathon 2026 is a national hackathon organized by the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Financial Monitoring (AFM), bringing together developers, data analysts, cybersecurity professionals, and AI experts to build innovative solutions for combating economic and financial crime.
The hackathon will take place over two days, June 24 and June 25, with participants developing AI-powered solutions across cybersecurity, OSINT, fraud detection, and digital investigations.

Participants can compete in one of three challenge tracks:
Digital Shadow
Develop AI-powered monitoring tools for open web sources and DarkNet environments to identify signs of illegal activities, including smuggling, suspicious cryptocurrency wallets, data leaks, and other risk indicators.
Focus areas:
• OSINT and DarkNet monitoring
• Graph analysis and relationship mapping
• Threat detection and prioritization
• Automated intelligence gathering
AI Shield
Build AI solutions for real-time cyber threat detection and data protection.
Focus areas:
• Unauthorized access detection
• Behavioral anomaly analysis
• Phishing and compromise indicators
• Automated cyber defense systems
• AI-powered security assistants
AI Media Watch
Create AI systems capable of monitoring and analyzing video content from platforms such as Instagram and TikTok to detect signs of illegal gambling, financial pyramids, and online fraud.
Focus areas:
• Video, audio, and text analysis
• Detection of fraudulent schemes
• Risk scoring and prioritization
• Explainable AI for investigations
The hackathon is part of Kazakhstan’s broader digital transformation and cybersecurity initiatives and is aimed at building practical AI tools for law enforcement, financial monitoring, and public safety.
